Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is well-known for her stellar performance in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano was awarded an Oscar. The successful actress began her career as an actor in the theatre with an array of Broadway and Off-Broadway projects. The actress has had a passion for acting ever since she started school. The first time she appeared in a show in the fifth grade was as Helen Keller. The actress was deaf in one ear after suffering from the mumps virus, however she did not permit this to deter her desire to be an actress. The college she attended was drama, and then moved to Pittsburgh and moved to New York City to follow her dreams. She met Beth Henley in an elevator and the pair collaborated on Broadway Crimes of the Heart, Hunter's first film. Her first role in film came after she relocated to Los Angeles. In the last three decades, she has appeared on many TV and film shows. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame actor and was awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award.
